For this section, you will need to:

  • In the textbook “YOGA Anatomy – Second Edition” textbook by Leslie Kaminoff and Amy Matthew read the below. Be sure to highlight important sections and/or take notes.
    • Introduction
    • Chapter 1: DYNAMICS OF BREATHING (*Note: If you are utilizing the textbook “YOGA Anatomy – Third Edition” textbook by Leslie Kaminoff and Amy Matthews, the chapters are slightly different. In the Third Edition, this is Chapter 6: DYNAMICS OF BREATHING)

  • In the textbook “MASTERING VINYASA YOGA” by Raji Thron read the below sections. Be sure to highlight important sections and/or take notes.
    • In INNER FOCUS  & MIND YOGA read “Breath is the Bridge to Your Inner Yoga”
    • In INNER FOCUS  & MIND YOGA read “Empowered and Refined Breath (Ujjayi Pranayama)”
  • After reading the above, watch the below videos for additional information on Breath Awareness and Applying Pranayama to Life, as well as a video on how to practice Ujjayi Breathing and Ujjayi Pranayama.
